This mod isn’t perfect, hence why I don’t nominate it for gold, but it certainly is good enough for a big, fat, Ten Four silver award! Just when you thought it was all overthis, the very latest and greatest Half Life mod puts you in the role of a black ops soldier (so that’s yet another HL character you’ve been able to play as – still trying to locate a rumoured mod where you play as a bullsquid). Great visuals, fun and balanced gameplay and a plot told in an interesting fashion in both in-game scripted sequences and a comic book style of storytelling. They probably moved from Japan to America back in the 19th century when Perry opened their borders and the Meiji Restoration brought down the Shogunate, started using modern weaponry as a consequence of this, and a century later confused 'aliens' with 'demons'. They were an entirely unrelated ancient cabal of ninjas, sworn to protect their home from demonic incursions. This way they can strong arm Congress for a bigger budget the next year.Finally, and this is my personal favourite and will remain canon in my head, the Black Ops weren't actually sent by the Pentagon like the HECU, and weren't even part of the military chain of command. The Black Ops got mad they were given the shittier hardware and struck back at their Marine oppressors.If not that, then I assume the Joint Chiefs realized they needed to justify their expenditure since the fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of the Cold War, and were probably sitting on a huge surplus of ammo and hardware that had to be removed from service soon, so why not just use it? More targets, more bullets will be shot. They utilize equipment and vehicles, such as the, the, and the similar to the HECU, but black in color.Black Ops soldiers can run much faster than the Marines, and up close, they use martial arts kicks and punches as melee attacks. Although not visible, they apparently have a communicator in their ear which they are seen listening to whenever they eliminate a target.They are equipped with the same with grenade attachment that the HECU use, but some male Black Ops have a. Some are seen wearing night vision goggles. Male Black Ops wear black combat gear and ski masks that only expose their eyes.
Further evidence of their viciousness can be seen after discovering a Marine engineer who, after being brutally beaten and interrogated, is simply left for dead, trapped in a garage.Along with the Female Black Ops, Opposing Force introduced the group's male variant. HECU radio traffic shows that the Marines are at first totally taken by surprise, much like how the HECU initially overwhelms the Black Mesa personnel.
